Internet History

In 1994, Philnet project made the first internet connection. It was made primarily for schools and government institutions.

In 1995, Globe telecom, Mosaic Communications, SequelNet and others started getting their own international links. PISO – Philippine Internet Service Organization was formed.

In 1997, Philippine Internet Commerce Society (PICS) was founded by Janette Toral. It is an advocacy group which promotes electronic commerce in the Philippines. 56 KBps speed was made possible.

In 1998, Cable Internet was introduced.

In 1999, Y2K Law was passed.

In 2000, Jaime Zobel de ayala formed iAyala. Yehey.com joined iVantage group. eCommerce Act was passed.

In 2001, The fall of dot coms started in the US. Lopez formed eLopez.
