Brushite in Dental Implants

What is Brushite?

Brushite is a precursor to hydroxyapatite (HA, CA5(PO4)3OH) which is found in the external periotal femoral fractures in children. It was found that brushite is transformed into a more stable calcium phosphate (hydroxyapatite). Brushite provides an increase ammount of calcium ions to the transforming media through solubility which will lead to higher contacts of osteogenesis and high mineralization.

An example of brushite coated dental implant is DIO’s Biotite-H.
